 Guarneri Trio Prague

Cenek Pavlik (Violin) / Marek Jerie (Cello) / Iván Klansky (Piano)

The Guarneri Trio Prague has inspired its audiences for a quarter of a century with an unsurpassable mix of artistic maturity and power of expression.

Since being founded in 1986 the Guarneri Trio Prague counts as one of the leading classical piano trios. Early spectacular successes ensured the Trio the highest attention from internationally renowned music reviewers, who have hailed it as being a first-rate chamber music ensemble, and praised the immaculate way the three musicians play together, its outstanding tone quality and its high standard of technical skill.

The Guarneri Trio Prague performs regularly at numerous international music festivals and in major concert venues. Extensive concert tours take the Trio through Europe, Canada, Australia, to the USA and South America as well as Japan.

For Supraphon and the French Label Praga Digitals the Guarneri Trio Prague's recordings feature the complete piano trios of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Schubert and Mozart and Brahms. GTP releases have frequently been awarded international prizes (Diapason d'Or, Le Monde de la Musique, Choc).

The Guarneri Trio Prague still consists of the original players, which surely bears witness to the high human quality of the musicians as people and the intensive friendship that keeps them together. The notable lightness with which they interact during their performance coupled with the complete mastery of their repertoire make the quality of their music a pure sound experience. The ensemble succeeds in enchanting any demanding chamber music audience be it in Prague, Barcelona, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, London, Geneva or Göttingen. In the course of the last few years the Trio has managed to build an impressive wide-ranging repertoire that not only contains the core classical works but also manifests a determined yet meticulous exploratory spirit. In this way the Guarneri Trio Prague helped contemporary composers such as Lubos Fiser or the Swiss Thüring Bräm to be included in the lists of musical works beside Bohemian composers from the great period of Viennese classical composers such as Jan Vaclav Vorisek or Antonín Rejcha.

Cenek Pavlik plays the famous 1735 "Zimbalist" violin by Guarneri del Gesù from the legendary collection of Luigi Tarisio, while Marek Jerie plays a ヤcello made by Andrea Guarneri in 1684.

In the 2011/12 season the Guarneri Trio Prague celebrated its 25th anniversary in numerous concerts the world over. The Ensemble has among others recorded for the BBC, Radio France, ORF, DRS2, NDR, SWR, Czech Radio. In 1996 Czech Television broadcasted a portrait of the Guarneri Trio Prague.

Cenek Pavlik is one of the foremost among today’s Czech solo violinists. He has won first prizes at both the Prague and London International Competitions. He lives in the Czech Republic. During his free time, Cenek Pavlik enjoys participating in archaeological digs, and has become an expert in ceramic tiles of the Middle Ages; he is also fascinated by steam locomotives and castles.

Marek Jerie is an outstanding ‘cellist and chamber musician. He has a professorship at the Lucerne Academy of Music, and is a teacher of great dedication; his students include chamber musicians and soloists at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Devoted to his family, he also derives much pleasure from exploring new places and meeting a wide variety of people on his travels.

Iván Klansky is an eminent Czech pianist in addition to which he is a much sought-after teacher.
