Francis Gouton (Cello)
French cellist Francis Gouton has given concerts and played as soloist and with chamber groups for important venues in Europe, Asia, North- and South America, Australia and New Zealand; such as, Columbia University in NYC, Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C., Boston, Los Angeles, Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Osaka Sinfony Hall, Seoul, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney Opera House, Berlin Schauspiel Haus, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Hamburg Musikhalle , Ludwigsburg Festspiele, Paris, Lyons "Musicades", Gstaad Festival, Caracas, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, as well as in the "Saint Barths music festival" in the French carribean.
His Chamber music partners have been Thomas Brandis, Josef Silverstein, Ana Chumachenko, Rainer Kssmaul, Nelson Goerner, Ingo Goritzki, Paul Coletti, Emmanuel Pahud, Franco Petracchi, Alex Klein, Bruno Pasquier or Jean-Claude Pennetier.He has also played as a guest artist with the Claude Bolling Jazz Trio.

In the 90es Gouton's career evolved in Japan, where as a member of the soon famous 'TYPHOON QUARTETT' he set new standarts in the Japanese world of classical music. The Quartett with violinist Furusawa Iwao (JP), pianist Phillip Bush (USA) and violist Paul Coletti (Scotland) gave around 40 concerts every year at the most important Japanese venues like Tokyo Suntory Hall, Bunka Kaikan, Orchard Hall, Osaka Sinfony Hall, Sapporo Kiitara Hall, Yokohama, Nagoya, Fukuoka etc. In addition there were numerous performances on radio and television as well as 4 CDs recorded in London and New York and 2 live DVDs with Sony. The CDs and DVDs remained were first on the Japanese classics charts for several weeks.

For many years he has explored the world of Bach - interpretation from solo and chamber music pieces to masses and oratorios in close cooperation Helmuth Rilling and as a solo cellist of Rilling's Bach Collegim.
He gives masterclasses in Japan, USA, France, Germany, Canada, in Switzerland and in China. He was also invited by Helmuth Rillings Internationale Bach Akademie to teach in Spain, Poland and Venezuela.

At the beginning of his career renowned personalities like Maria Kliegel, Janos Starker, Paul Tortelier, Mstislav Rostropovich and Pierre Fournier were his teachers and mentors.
He has recorded many solo and chamber music pieces on CD and DVD e.g. with Claves, Hera, Naxos and Sony.
In 2007 Francis Gouton was appointed Professor at the Musikhochschule in Trossingen (Germany).

In 1993, Francis Gouton as awarded with the European price for young artists (Europáisches Förderpreis für junge Künstler) in Zurich.
In 2007 Francis Gouton was appointed Professor at the Musikhochschule in Trossingen (Germany).
November 2009 saw Francis Gouton as a soloist in Japan, performing Dvorak s concerto with the Gunma Symphony Orchestra and the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, both under the baton of Martin Turnovsky, as well as Tchaikovsky s Rococo Variations with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Dorian Wilson. Highly acclaimed was his noble rendition, which was supported by the virtuosity that he had inherited from Pierre Fournier. Already he is scheduled to appear with Tokyo orchestras in June 2011.
Francis Gouton plays a Cello by Domenico Montagnana, Venice 1734.
