The Avos Piano Quartet was formed in 2007 at the National Academy of
Santa Cecilia in Rome. They immediately attracted international
attention by winning the two most important chamber music competitions
in Italy (Members of the World Federation of International Music
Competitions in Geneva): thePremio Vittorio Gui International Chamber
Music Competition in Florence, and the Premio Trio di Trieste International
Competition, where they also received two other prizes: the Amedeo
Baldovino Prize for their interpretation of J.Brahms (Quartet op.25),
and the Public Prize given by the italian newspaper "Il Piccolo
di Trieste". In 2010, the Chigiana Academy of Siena gave them
two more prizes: the "Premio Monte Dei Paschi" and their
prestigious "Diploma of Honor".
The Quartet has studied with Dario De Rosa, Renato Zanettovich, Maureen
Jones, Enrico Bronzi, Felix Ayo, Alfonso Ghedin, Rocco Filippini, and
the Alban Berg Quartet at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz of Cologne
(Germany). They have performed alongside artists such as Natalia Gutman,
Eliso Virsaladze, Ebène Quartet, Belcea Quartet and Alban Berg
Quartet.
The Quartet has performed in the most important theaters in Italy and
abroad (Teatro "La Fenice" of Venice, Teatro Filarmonico of Verona, Teatro
Coccia of Novara, Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome, Teatro Alighieri
of Ravenna, Teatro Verdi of Trieste, Teatro Comunale of Florence, Teatro
Verdi of Pisa, Sala Chigi Saracini of Siena, Roma Tre University, Tuscia
University of Viterbo, Musica Insieme of Bologna, Societ Fioravanti
of Prato, Teatro Mancinelli of Orvieto, Teatro Rendano of Cosenza, Sicily
and others). The Quartet has toured in Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands,
Romania and Japan, where they toured more than 5 times since 2009 and
organized Master classes at Yonago, Kurayoshi and Tottori, Japan.
They have also recorded for RAI (National Italian Television). Their
discography includes Mozart's quartets, Brahms's quartets, Schumann's
quartet, C.Saint-Saens's quartets, Faur's op.15, Dvorak's op.87, Mahler,
Schnittke, Walton and Brotons, for Azzura Music and Brilliant Classic.
